Insurance Scouts Joins Western Insurance Agents Association

We’re happy to announce Insurance Scouts has joined the Western Insurance Agents Association (WIAA) to be part of the solution to advocate for insurance issues affecting Californians.

The main issues affecting Mono County and the greater California area are cancellations from carriers and carriers being unwilling to write new policies. Insurance rates have to be approved by the Department of Insurance in California, and insurance carriers are hesitant to write new policies because the risk outweighs the rate they can currently charge. It’s a tough situation, but coming together with WIAA with a common goal is an important step toward a solution.

As Ken Lyon, chairman of the WIAA, said,

“This is a very difficult time for insurance agents and their clients. The homeowner and commercial property market disruption due to numerous catastrophes may be with us for many years. Combined with an economy on the verge of a recession and less than friendly government agencies and legislatures, the need for a strong association fighting for agents and their clients is needed now more than ever. WIAA has built a strong reputation for looking out for the best interest of its members.”

We wish we had a magic wand and could fix the insurance issues here in California, but we’re glad to be part of the movement toward better insurance options at least. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
