Carbon Monoxide Gas Dangers
Carbon Monoxide poisoning occurs most often during the winter months. This is because during the cold months we frequently use furnaces, water heaters, stoves, and gas fireplaces. Some precautions you can take to avoid carbon monoxide poising are to have fuel-burning appliances inspected for leaks and proper ventilation, and to make sure you have a properly installed carbon monoxide alarm with fresh batteries.
It’s also important to know the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. The symptoms can be divided into two categories: early symptoms, and high-level symptoms. Early symptoms include flu-like symptoms, headache, fatigue, nausea, and shortness of breath. High level symptoms include mental confusion, vomiting, loss of consciousness, loss of muscular coordination, and death. Be safe this winter.
